strengthened timing belts, and auto tensioner ?
anyone heard of strengthened timing belts...anyone think this would help if I went w/stage 3 crower cams?? Im assuming not because I think its the autotensioner itself that breaks, not the belt...also every event of the tensioner failure I've heard of its always a "bolt," anyone think If I just replaced that "bolt," this could prevent failure?
any feedback is appreciated
thanks for the help everybody.

Power Enterprises sells a heavy duty timing belt for the H22A. The PE belts are especially desirable when you have high lift cams and/or stiffer valve springs. The stiffer valve springs and higher lift cam lobes means it takes more force to rotate the cams and this places a good deal more stress on the timing belt.

thanks for the reply Andrew.
on crowers site it doesn't say anything about upgraded valvesprings required w/stage 3 cams...do you think they are still necessary, seems like they would to me. strange thing is it says they are required for one of the stage 2 (if you are going over the stock revlimit.)

Yes, you WILL need a new set of valve springs and retainers. Stage 2 w/o as much lift needs them to prevent coilbind, stage 3 has even higher ramp speeds and more lift.
I have stage 3, titanium retainers and the dual coil valvesprings...you need to upgrade.
And about the other thread, it wasn't the auto-tensioner that failed....but I would recommend a tough belt and a manual tensioner....the auto-tensioner just can't take the rapid adjustments cause by the high lift cams and the valvetrain

Thanks for the help guys...glad i didn't order cams yet..
so it would be cool to go with the stage 2 w/stock Idle lobes, w/out any valvetrain upgrade right?? says on crower site, its fine w/out exceeding stock rev-limit. I am planning on going w/the Manual Tensioner swap though.
