Default civic ex 95 - at a traffic light, can i switch from D4 to neutral?

hello,
i wanted to ask someone who knows something about the gear box of the car.
if im standing at a traffic light, can i switch from D4 to neutral? does it ruins something within the gear box?

You can switch to and from any gear you'd like, just be mindful of RPM and direction.

Yeah your tranny will be fine, before I swapped mine out I would shift to neutral and it never messed it up. You can also shift the gears up from 2nd without the button and hold the rpms then just push the shifter to d3 and d4.

I blew a head gasket on mine holding the rpms in second going up a hill.

The little champ kept going another 60 miles before I could get it home.

mine was a 5spd and was a great car 4 door EX 5 spd black with dark (almost black) interior, freezing cold a/c

All these weird n noobish questions are probably that summer is here so a lot of kids are getting their licenses and buying the cheapest thing they can get in most cases a Honda lol...

Every time I drive an auto, I switch from Drive to Neutral at lights. I'm so used to sitting in Neutral (driving a manual) that I hate holding the brake pedal.

OP: As long as you shift back into drive WITHOUT revving the engine, you'll be fine. Dont expect it to last long if you rev and pop it into gear
