Default HAVEN"T BEEN AROUND MUCH

I haven't been around much this month. Real busy with my wife finishing a work contract, & us being 500 miles away from home for only two & half weeks more. Then we go home to stay wife has a contract there finally. So our running up & down the road is coming to a close. 74,000 miles we have put on our Civic in a year & half.
The Civic is running great, & since having the timing belt & all done, we have an increase in gas mileage up to 39 mpg. But it runs 32-36 mpg pretty regular. Where before if was more like 29-32 mpg. Also it doesn't use as much oil. So I'm wondering if the belt before was retarded a tooth. It runs with more power than I can ever remember it running.

When I mentioned that my oil consumption dropped & mileage increased to the shop owner who did the work that was his first thought. He said if the timing was off one tooth it could cause a the oil usage, since it dropped in half or more. He said they never checked the old belt timing marks, just made sure the new belt was on the marks as they are suppose to be.
All I know is I was pleased with their work & their price.
