Default 97 Accord auto trans problems

I have a 97 Accord with an F22b and automatic trans. The trans make a grinding noise in both park and reverse and reverse does not engage. Neutral and all of the forward gears are working fine without any unusual noise. If anyone knows what the problem is help would be appreciated.

I don't know much about autos but my first step would be to take the tranny off and inspect the driveshaft and TQ converter, or anything else that wouldn't involve going in the tranny. I'm going to asumme that your car is high mileage and that you don't have a Honda guide, which you can download somewhere for free. Don't be scared to work on your car these things are like Legos just follow the manual.
