Exhaust problems with 92 cx with d16z6
My stock exhaust rusted off my car 2 years ago and couldn't find stock exhaust in good condition so I bought fartcan catback, test pipe and a quiet autozone muffler since this is my DD, I don't want a fartcan on it. Long story short, the exhaust was cut and welded with inferior tools and it doesn't line up that great and rattles, especially in the rain.
So what I want to do is have an exhaust shop make me a new catback and weld my oval muffler to it but I need a cat for a shop to work on it (mine was stolen). I can't seem to find a cat that fits a 92 cx hatch online--is it really different than the other 92-95 cats? Will this work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Magnaflow-22636-Direct-Fit-Catalytic-Converter-90-91-Acura-Integra-92-95-Civic-/321003729992?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4abd503448&vxp=mtr
Alternatively, does anyone know of an aftermarket brand that makes a quiet, non-ricey catback for 92-95 hatches?

Just go to the exhaust shop, they will have universal cats there. Make a WTB thread and I bet you'll find someone that has an OEM muffler they will sell you. Take that to the exhaust shop and have them fix everything.
Yeah I'm thinking I'll probably just do that since I just got a bonus and am sick of this exhaust complication. But if I do go the online way, should I just buy exhaust for a 92 Si since my ex mani and dp are from the d16z6?
This is the only "quiet" catback I could find online.
It's too loud for me, I want oem sounding.
I have another question. I have started getting parts for a k swap, do the typical k swap headers (skunk2, ktuned, etc), bolt up to the stock catback or cat itself? I don't want to screw my future plans by getting a custom one piece cat+catback.

It's pretty quiet. I just installed one on my wife's hatch. She's very happy with it. Says it sounds like a brand new car. Can't speak to your K-swap. You might want to verify that in the Hybrid forum.
If you swap to a K series eventually, the catback portion of your exhaust should work. Typically, the part that changes is from the cat forward; whereas, the catback is vehicle-specific
Since I have a d16z6 em/dp and I have a cx hatch, would a Si catalytic converter and catback be what I need? (cx and si aren't the same, I assume because the cx em/dp/cat are different/smaller but I can't remember, I did the swap 4 years ago). The test pipe I used (from above) didn't fit so I had to cut it but this may be because I order a cx test pipe when I needed Si...

You won't get any attention. I can promise you. You might get a few looks because it sounds quieter than people expect. Might have to swap my Edelbrock catback out for this one.
I just got off the phone with Nayaka and they said they don't make a catback for the cx. So I asked if the body is different than the dx/Si. Got put on hold and he came back saying it's because of the "header" on the cx angulation to the catback is different. So I asked "Since I have the Si engine, thus em/dp and going to buy a Si catalytic converter, will the Si catback work on my cx?" He said he doesn't know. :/
Bottom line, will this all line up correctly on a cx body:
-Si em
-Si dp
-Si cat (have to buy)
-Si catback (have to buy)

Okay, you made the mistake I made when I ordered mine and forgot that, for all intents and purposes, you are ordering for an EX. You do NOT want the setup for the CX, DX or any model with the cat up front. Don't even mention it cause all it does is confuse them. You want the EX exhaust that allows for the cat to be beneath the car.
I understand the engine is from the ex 2dr/dr (well, really a del sol) but the body is a hatch. I thought hatches were shorter. I'm going to PM you.
Nothing in a PM that I can't tell you in here. Everybody needs to benefit from this dialog. If you're unsure, just get the catback for the DX, buy a universal Magnaflow cat with no flanges and have a shop cut and weld it all together for you.
"so what you are saying is my hatch needs:
-si em/dp
-si catalytic converter, like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MagnaFlow-22...480a23&vxp=mtr
-ex 2d/4d noyaka catback, like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yonaka-Honda...e8fdfa&vxp=mtr"
First of all, I've been out of the honda scene a long time, forgot a lot. But, I figured my car's exhaust is still a hatch from the end of the cat and back, is why I'm confused. What you are saying is the whole exhaust setup should be the ex 2d/4d?

You need the exhaust system, whether it be OEM or aftermarket, for a 92-95 Civic Si/EH3. The OEM b pipe and axleback can still be ordered from Honda.
Coupe and sedan exhaust are interchangeable, I have used coupe exhaust on my old 93 EX sedan, while they will fit a hatchback, it is not a bolt on affair.
Just make sure whatever exhaust you get is for a 3dr and save yourself the hassle of fitment issues and a trip to the exhaust/welding shop.
Any Catalytic converter for the D16Z6 will fit, coupe/sedan EX or Hatchback Si

What? That thread starts off saying they weren't available for the DX, YET I just installed a Yonaka for a DX. I actually needed the exhaust for the EX and THOSE fit for any 2 door from 92-00 which would include the 92-95 SI and that's' what I was telling you to get!!
And to be specific THIS is the model you needed

That took me all of 10 seconds to find on Google.
This is what I get for trying to be helpful.

You have a Z6 in your CX which essentially makes it an SI now. Stop looking at the stupid sticker on the car that says CX because it's NOT a CX anymore. You got a test pipe to replace the cat. That goes UNDER the car. You need a catback system. What am I missing?
Back track Marc, this is why you were confusing:
should be DX* not EX there.
