help needed h22a7
hi guys ive recently blow the bottom end on my h22a7 and with the rebuild cost been a small fortune to get the car back on the road im going to use a h22a bottom end ive done a load ov research on the engines but i cant seem to find any info on the crank sensor. ive read that i need to use the h22a dizzy but assumed this is for when using the prelude wiring and putting a hh22a7 head in the prelude. i was wondering if anyone could shed any light as to what i need to do in order for the car to run
when u say wire the crank sensor into the dizzy i carnt find a crank sensor on the h22a bottom end plus as im using the accord wiring which has 2 plugs and the prelude only has one for the dizzy. does this mean i need to use the prelude dizzy and wiring or can i use the accord dizzy ?
you should be able to swap over the oil pump and crank sensor along with the crank timing pulley...assuming the h22a you are planning on using doesn't have an obd2 setup already
this assumes that the car you were already using for the h22a7 was already obd2 as well since you didn't really give any information at all on what you already have

sorry mate this is the low down. ive got an accord type r h22a7 which the bottom end has gone. i bought a full jdm prelude h22a and transfered the bottom end off the prelude onto the a7 head. I was told i had to use the prelude dizzy in the a7 head but came across the problem with the plugs one having one plug the other has 2. im assuming the info i have is someone using a prelude and replacing the the head with a A7 but im doing it the other way round. i was wondering if i have to use the prelude wiring and get a conversion harness for the different obds or weather i can use the a7 dizzy. I was also told that i needed to wire the crank sensor and tdc into it but i assume this means if i use the prelude dizzy

ok well i don't know if that thing is obd2 but if it is then just swap over the crank timing pulley and oil pump from the A7 to the h22a and it should be plug and play..if it's obd1 let us know
IMO
If you bottom end if is OBD1 you need the obd1 dizzy , ecu, wiring to convert the OBD2B h22a7 head into OBD1
If your bottom end is OBD2, then you should see the space for the crank sensor between the engine crank pulley and the crank itself. You can use a Crank from a F23 or H23 or h22 they all have the same crank sensor.
if you engine is OBD2B (h22a7) then you dizzy just has the cam sensor inside the crank sensor is on the block.

A7 has the same oil pump and crank pulley / crankshaft as a late generation prelude type s
that means 55mm mains and not 50 mm as older h22 had.
The oil pump from a H22a4 should work perfect on a H22a7

im using the accord type r chassis and the engine is the bottom end ov a h22a prelude with my origanal h22a7 head bolted to it all the wiring in the car is from the accord the only thing ive used from the prelude is the bottom end
