Will a LS final dr ring gear from a 90-93 fit a 94-01 LS diff?
I have a 94 LS trans that the diff took a dump on me. I didnt notice that the ring gear had a cracked tooth till i went to put it back together. Now im looking for another ring gear and a few guys have offered the ring gear from LS cable trannys. Just trying to find out if they are the same?
LS transmissions are:
90-91 A1/S1 = 4.40 Final Drive
92-93 YS1 = 4.27 Final Drive
94-01 Y80/S80 = 4.27 Final Drive
You can use any Ring gear and Countershaft from 92-Up LS. I would try to use a matched set. That will insure they both have the same wear pattern and reduce the chances of a whine. The early model 90-91 have a 4.40 Final drive and the Countershaft is different and will not work with 92-up transmissions
