New here and new to Hondas ( with swaps anyway)

Here goes

Last week I picked up a 97 civic hx 5 speed with a 2nd gen jdm b16a for 1200 dollars I picked it up from an old man. His son was in jail and wanted it sold. The son gave father a short list of what's done to it.

Has 2nd gen b16a
97 ex wiring harness
97 ex auto ecu

Drove it home an hour away ran fine and vtec was popping at 55k but I know it shouldnt have that ecu. My issue is that I was told to slap in a p28 with stpedown and I did but as soon as I did car revd straight to 3k rpm then plugged in b16 ecu and same thing...
So right now it still has auto 97 ex ecu ( not driving car like that but it runs "ok")

Does anyone have an idea of what's going on...AGAIN IM NEW SO IF YOUR GONNA RUN YOUR MOUTH ABOUT IT PLEASE TAKE IT SOMEONE ELSE..

What ecu should I be running any help would be AWSOME

 

What dizzy does it have? Might have the wrong one?

 

Pretty sure he said it was wired to an ob2 dizzy if that makes any sense

 

Do your know if the auto ecu is chipped?

 

Can't chip an OBD2 ECU. Is the check engine light on? If so pull the codes and post them.

 

Shouldn't be running any SOHC ECU on a DOHC engine unless it's chipped for it.

 

No auto ecu isn't chipped but like I said when I put a chipped p28 it jumps right to 3k rpm
And yes check engine light is on for ode o2 sensors

 

It does that on a chipped ECU because your maps on it are probably crap.
