What will cause really bad sputtering and missfiring in a 91 honda civic? Timing is good, smells really gassy. I put new spark plugs and wire in along with a new fuel filter. Also i accelerate really ******* slow, even when reving it wont rev up to red line.. Thoughts and ideas please

 

also im getting a code 9. CYP sensor, would that causes this?

 

my 91 civic does the same thing, d15b2 engine, might not even be relevant. The sputter is worse off the colder it is. MY spark plug wires are popping off due to bad o-rings. It's run like this for thousands of miles. Common issue as far as I know. It feels like I'm running out of gas, but the car has never cut out from the issue.

mine's an automatic, since you can see your redline, I figure you're driving a stick. have a look at the o-rings under your spark plug wires.

 

Code 9 is #1 Cylinder Position Sensor located in the Distributor. Either check wiring or replace distributor. That is why it is sputtering.
