Icon2 Opinions on what to do

Ok so My EF Has a B20B swap in it, and I am planning tog et a new transmission for it to swap the one in it now for a LS trans so the Highway RPM is lower. My future plans for the car may include a turbo, not sure, but I definitely want to get a new head, because I think my valves are the reason my car is backfiring (valves are rattling also) when I downshift, and it backfires sometimes when I upshift.
My questions are a couple..

Since I am already going to have everything out for the trans swap, should I replace the clutch, even though I do not have the turbo, and may not even do it? I know I want to do a Vtech head....

Clutch is fine (as far as I can feel) But I dont know if it is stock or not.

Next is what head would work well for the B20B bottom end and do I need anything special Wiring wise for the Vtech? I have seen a few writeups but none in an EF, so I am not sure what will fit under the hood.

This is all going to be done in stages, will depend what I find first, the tranny, or the head. I do believe I have an ODBo
I just want to make sure I get all of the right parts so when I go to do it im not stuck, because I overlooked something. (I realize I may find more when I dig, but that is always a gamble)
Any suggestions?

Thanks

You can do either b16 or b18 head.. You will have to wire in vtec.. They sell conversion harnesses to do it, so its not as hard as it seems.. Just use google there is a ton of info out there.. It doesn't matter what car it goes into its still the same motor regardless of the chassis. Only thing is obd0 doesnt have vtec so it needs to be wired and also you will need a conversion harness for the distributor and an obd1 ecu..

Yes, upgrade the clutch now so you don't have to later. If you're serious about boosting you better read your *** off over here: https://honda-tech.com/forums/forced-induction-16/%2A%2A%2Aforced-induction-forum-faq%2A%2A%2A-1024174/

and here: https://honda-tech.com/forums/forced-induction-16/%2A%2Aofficial-boosted-ef-thread%2A%2A-1771468/

As for the heads, either would be fine. I recommend a GE B20/V kit with ARP headstuds. Don't buy it until you know which head you're gonna run for sure because the seller will need that info. ARP rod bolts are also a good investment for the bottom end. If you're power goal is over 350whp MAXIMUM on stock internals, then plan on building with forged pistons and rods. Like I said though, you need to really invest time into reading from the links I posted.
