CRX steering rack issue??
Driving the other day, out of the blue my steering wheel starts to become stiff to turn. I can go around a 90 degree turn and the wheel doesn't want to straighten itself right ack out like it normally would. Put it up in the air today, ball joints, tie rods ect are good, bushings are old but still alright. No play in any of them. I did notice a very small tear letting out some grease on my axle boot but that shouldn't have a thing to do with it. My only guess would be the rack, but i've only ever heard of them loosening up not becoming stiff and harder to turn. Just wanted some opinions.
search rack bushing (in teh FAQ,or should be...) very common wear item, but usually in form of play/popping noise but could bind enough under certain conditions methinkz. BUT A tear in CV boot letting grease out WILL cause teh CV Joint to bind after wearing enough during turns! (not to mention they can explode after wearing teh fk out enough) G'luck!
