mugen lowdown owners..... please respond!
.....if i were to get a set of mugen lowdown's, i can get other rates and heights from king, right?
I mean, if i want my lowdowns a little lower than what they come with, i can do that with optional mugen springs, right? And stiffer, in say 400F/ 600R, right?
What rates do they come with normally?
Ausmith, help me out here bro!

Black R,
the Lowdown is preassembled with spring rates specifically designed for the DC2R or EK9. I *don't* think you can request your own spring rates on that.

I had thought the same thing... but Ausmith had lower springs on his car with the lowdowns... it was VERY low and it was the official KING motorsports itr for a while...
I guess that answers my question then (till he responds)...
I was told by Scott at King Motorsports that the lowdowns are very good for track days including running in race events like Honda Challenge with the rates that they are at....Scott is the manager of King. They are running a similar set-up on their car in Grand-Am. Not sure on Rates!?

and for spring rates, I hate to say this, but do a search.
I did one yesterday and in one of the old posts, someone listed the rates. let me know if you can't find it.

I have the lowdowns on my Type R and I have seen Ausmiths car in person when he was in ATL for the dyno day...his car was NOTICEABLY lower then mine.

Mugen Lowdowns = Overpriced Coil-Over Suspension.
For the money you can buy a set of Coil-Over System from other manufacturers that come pre-assembled and has height and ride adjustability. They look like an upgraded shock and lowering spring combination to me. I forgot to mention they're GOLD colored! Bling Blingin...
Len, who would rather save up a couple more hundred dollars and get a Zeal System.

Your opinion that's fine but it has NOTHING to do with the question in this thread, why post anything at all?
To be honest, your reply to my reply really has nothing to do with the thread neither.
Ken - I was under the impression that there were optional spring rates, not sure about free length. You might find a decent combination between the Civic and Integra springs.
As for the guy who said that the Low Down was overpriced bling bling..... I highly doubt you have driven a car equipped with the low down suspension and compared it to other strut/spring or coil over combos.
The valving on the Mugen set is absolutely perfect for the springs and the vehicle. You get a near stock ride quality on the street combined with rates and valving totally suitable for hard track driving.
I believe that my car (now Mugenmike's car) had the standard Mugen lowdown intended for the DC2.
The bottom line is that 99% of the people on this forum (myself included) don't have the mental capacity to understand and take advantage of a 16-way adjustable coil-over system. Most race cars don't use systems that are that complex.
I'm going to Reno next week to pick up a new Arrr and one of the first things I am going to do, after I get it home, is drive to Sullivan and get a set of the Lowdown's.

Get the lowdowns and be done. Settings 1f 1r for daily driving. 3f 5r for track and autocrossing, sometimes maybe 4f 5r. Bam, done, over, 2 seconds to adjust.
