Default F23a Redline - what's the restriction?

Hi,

I have an F23a1 in my 2001 Accord and I was thinking of dropping in a bisi regrind stage 2 cam and a hondata unit to tune. I was curious what the major limiting factor for engine redline is on the F23. I've heard that it has a bad bore/stroke ratio but what about the valve train?

also, if it is the bore/stroke ratio, how can I fix this? Should I get it bored out a half a millimeter?

As a side question, is a new ECM required for a regrind or will the stock sensors and computer be able to figure it out?

I wouldn't rev it any higher than it stops making power. I'd guess that'd be around 6500-7000 rpm.

For the rod/stroke ratio, I wouldn't worry about that too much.

Converting to an OBD1(required) ECU to run Hondata is as easy as an OBD2 to OBD1 jumper. You WILL need to tune it.. there's no point in swapping in that cam, untuned, you're leaving a ton of power on the table. AFAccord can provide more details, he was basically running such a setup, but using ECTune I believe. You can find his build/dynos on here and 6thgenaccord.
