Default GT3076R vs Bullseye T3/T04E

Okay so I currently have a turbo d16 with the following mods:

-FIC 850cc/min injectors
-Hondata S300
-Vitara 75.5mm pistons
-FJ Distributors custom length rods
-Full Supertech valvetrain (valves, springs, retainers)
-Bisimoto 1.2 cam
-Bullseye T3/T04E 57 trim turbo
-Walbro 255lph

Right now I am running ~21psi on the Bullseye turbo. This weekend I will be swapping in a Walbro 400lph fuel pump and ID1000 injectors to prepare for an E85 tune. Would there be a benefit in upgrading the turbo to the GT3076R or would the Bullseye unit be just fine for my application? I kind of want to go with a bigger turbo but I'm not sure if it's something that would be really useful.

Depends upon what power level that you're going for and the purpose, as there are TONs of options in addition to the GT3076R. Considering this is a D-series engine, with that budget, you've got a lot you can get.

Here are differences.

1) CFM flow rate of the two turbos. The 57 trim is about 51lbs/min, using a larger P-trim exhaust wheel, which is a bit mismatched for the use of the D-series. BEP is a great company, but still don't understand why they're using such a large exhaust wheel for the match (other than cost and the fact that it fits in their .55A/R, which isn't much help). The GT3076R is 52lbs/min, but uses a great N32 60mm exhaust wheel that's more efficient for the D-series (and most other sub 2.4 lire Hondas in the B& K family as well) that can take the turbo up to about 480whp-500whp realistically. The BEP is good to about 450whp realistically, but the compressor wheel has a bit of trouble keeping up, and the larger exhaust wheel for that lower end power tends to be lazy in-between shifts in transient response (and I don't mean WOT in-between gear shifts, either )

2) Turbine wheel. The're using a larger P-trim sized exhaust wheel, which is a bit lazier than the GT3076R. But depending upon your goals, needs and use of the car, there are quite a few other wheel combinations in both journal and ball-bearing sizes that work just as well as a GT3076R, but at a bit less cost.

The GT3076R is great, don't get me wrong, and its a good thing you're going Garrett, but more information is needed before any options and opinions can be final.

What other turbochargers have you looked at for the budget and use? OR are you just stating "GT3076R" because other D-series guys are with that super low of a compression?

Hey man, I was hoping you would reply to this post haha. The budget thing isn't really too much of an issue but I would for sure like to keep a turbo upgrade under the $1500 mark if possible.

I definitely know what you mean with the larger wheel being a little lazy inbetween shifts. This is another reason I wanted to upgrade the turbo.

As far as other options, I was looking at a Garrett T3/T4 57 trim but I'm a little worried about the hot side being a little on the large side. Also been looking at a 6262.

Realistically I want to hit the 450whp mark on E85 and I believe my block/head can handle those power levels. Of course I would like to minimize lag as much as possible but realize it's something that comes with the territory.

If you have any other questions please let me know, I really appreciate your feedback.

you're looking at a 6262 and you're afraid a 57 trim hotside is too big? oy.

Yes the 6262 is silly. A 55xx series would be more appropriate.
But you should have no problem getting a GT3076 for under $1200.

Not for under that, but I have much better alternatives at a better lbs/min rate. If he Pms me, He'll know more.
