97 Accord SE - Condenser fan blowing the wrong way?
My car's been having issues with the AC at idle. Does fine at higher speeds, but the whole system shuts off/turns on/shuts off repeatedly when parked or at a red light. Replaced radiator fan motor last summer and condenser motor about a few weeks ago.
I took it to a mechanic today who said that the condenser fan blows the wrong way, as in towards the radiator and not the engine. Of course, they want $250 to fix it. Has anyone else had this happen? As I googled more into this, I've come across multiple people saying that you can splice the wires and switch them to change the direction of the fan. True? No?
Both motors for the fans were pulled off of other cars. The radiator fan came from a Toyota (I think). Either way the plug didn't fit so we Frankensteined it and it works (spliced the wires.) The condenser fan came off a 98 Accord, which plugged in perfectly. So I guess my biggest thing I'm trying to wrap my head around is why the condenser motor (no need to splice) is causing the fan blade to go the wrong way. I assume it should be going the right way since we didn't even mess with the wiring..? Has this happened to anybody before? I can always just get a brand new assembly from Autozone for like $70 but free sounds better
Thank you in advance!

Just swap the wires on the fan motor side of the connector and see what happens. You can do it for like $7.00. They sell heat shrink red butt connectors at Walmart.
Perhaps the fan motor is from a different gen or trim so the wires are different. You can check your wiring too. Maybe you did something wrong.

2000 Accord SE. Last summer my AC stopped working. Turns out the condenser fan kept shorting the circuit. Bought a new fan - with motor- from Amazon, Dorman part, and installed it. One day the car started overheating, turns out the new condenser fan was turning the opposite direction. Returned the part and bought just the condenser fan motor on ebay and it's been fine since. I never thought of swapping the wire as suggested, good thing Amazon has a great return policy. The connector on the fan only fits one way so there's no mistake there.
Can you turn the motor, or the frame around, so it blows toward the motor. can the fan blade be turned 180 degrees? could it have been installed backwards? 12 volt motors are not bi directional ....that I have ever seen, power em up the turn. also.....make sure the mechanic info was correct.
