I am rebuilding the suspension on my 91 hatch and I honestly have no clue how the KYB strut mount bushings should be oriented on the top of the strut. I've done a ton of searching and haven't found anything with these specific strut mounts. The giant nipple is throwing me off because it isn't shown in any of the installation instructions or any parts catalog.

This is exactly what the strut mounts look like.

Should the nipples be facing the outside of the strut mount plate? Should both nipples be facing the strut mount plate? Should both nipples be facing down (towards the ground when installed)? I would greatly appreciate any help!

 

One bushing sits in the top of the strut mount, "nipple" lol facing up. The other sits in the bottom of the strut mount, nipple facing down.

You're welcome. And be sure to lube them up with bushing grease to avoid squeaks and such.

 

didn't really search too hard. your bushings are #7 in the picture. that metal collar is #14
