Has anyone had a valve guide chip, or break off?
I was at the track friday night just trying to get some data when the car started running on 3 cylinders. Figured out the spark plug was smashed shut in cylinder #1. Got the car home and yarded the head off to find this...

Once the head was torn down found the chunk of material rattling around. It was a piece of the valve guide on the intake side that came from cylinder#3. The valve wasnt bent, nothing shows signs of heat or stress. Its like the guide chipped off. There was more of the same as the pics above in cylinder #3 but no where near as bad. Just curious if anyone has just had a guide come apart like this?

Yeah...it was just an OEM prepped head as far as guides and seals. But has Supertech springs and retainers and exhaust valves and OEM intake valves.
yeah back in March that happened to me. It was a steel guide. mine beat up cyl 4 then jumped over to cyl 1 and partied there before knocking out my turbine wheel FTL. Ferrea Mag Bronze in the house now.
You didnt find any wear on the valve stem or anything. Basically saying the guide just fell apart?
no wear was seen. My machine shop took complete care of everything for me, they were out of the box guides on the first day out. I just put everything back together and moved on.
