Ok, so I've been reading and discussing and more reading...And I'm starting to get confused! I have a 98 USDM GSR that I over revved and bent just about every valve in the head... 170K miles, 12lb flywheel, stock clutch, Skunk2 IM, cheap short ram air intake, eBay exhaust, stock exhaust manifold, test pipe, P06chipped ecu with a random tune... AND THE CAR (92VX) RAN ITS ******* *** OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO BS
I want to up my compression a little, and get better cams...
I was thinking about JDM P73 pistons but the USDM PR3 pistons or JDM P30's may be more what I'm looking for... Thoughts???
I have a Hytech header, 70mm TB, Skunk2 IM...
Why are flat valves better then dished valves or the other way round???
Why titanium retainers and not stainless steel???
Most of my upgraded valve train will be Supertech, Blox, etc...
Cams will be determined at a later date because as of right now, I DONT HAVE A EF'N CLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd do a mild rebuild. I suggest if its a budget, i'd look into P30 pistons, maybe some upgraded rodbolts / head bolts.
More or less this would help increase compression and give the bottom end alittle more stableness to rev higher.. Basically with a nice set of cams, manifold, header and exhaust you shouldn't have any problem reaching that goal..at all, with a good tuner.
I'd go with Flat valves, Look into some Supertechs or Ferrea, if you wanna spend that money, otherwise, just some stock ITR valves would be more then sufficient. Look into Supertech springs/retainers, they can be had for fairly cheap and will last.
With the advancements in Tuning, Cam design, and bolt on support, making 200-220whp is becoming more and more easier on stock to mildly done bottom ends. In the end though, its just a number, MPH will speak volumns over anything on the dyno.
