rpm whacked out mph fine and no vtech
I have found many closely related posts but everyone keeps pointing in different directions.(ignitor and speed sensor mainly) I recently replaced my clutch and before I did it my rpms would float sometimes when I rly got into it 6k+ and vtech would work now a few weeks after vtech SOMETIMES sputters but that's it and after like 3-4k rpm my needle is all over the place but my speedo is fine and I have also noticed my car seems to be guzzling gas? might be my imagination idk I have newer plug wires and brand new spark plugs and dizzy rotor also I noticed oil on my plugs when I replaced them and I'm well aware I need a valve cover gasket and I'm losing oil from it and when I accel from a stop I smoke a bit but it's only on take off, had people with me in cruises say they don't see anything while driving. that's about everything my 97 lude has issues with hope someone can narrow me to one part that seems suspect
I'm not sure, I'm kinda in the same boat as you I have perfectly fine oil pressure and my car is also taking in a lot of gas, and my v-tec will only kick when it feels like it, it seems. and I burn a litle bit of oil. I'd recommend checking your v-tec solenoids and cleaning 'em up. sorry I couldn't narrow it down a lot for ya, :/
Are you getting a CEL, checked codes. Could be valve stem
seals are going. My valve stem seals are in bad shape and i
get bit of smoke at take off. Have gone to thicker weight engine
oil and use fuel additive for upper cylinder lubricant and it has
made a big difference at least until i can get time to fix it.
