Default 2000 accord solenoid bypass???

Hey guys i have a 2000 Honda accord ex v6 that's been locking in park for awhile. I knew it was probably the brake light switch but it wasn't. I replaced it and made sure that it was in the right positioning.

Brake lights work fine. I know there is a bypass for the transmission but i was wondering if there's a way to make that permanent (so that park doesn't lock) rather then replacing the solenoid.

My presumption (i haven't done research) is that replacing the solenoid would get expensive, and it's just not worth it to me if i can make it happen in another way.

I appreciate any input you guys have to offer.

Bump sorry, just sort've waiting to fix the car, I'd like to fix this problem as quick as possible.

If nobody knows how to bypass the lock-out solenoid can somebody possibly find me a part number? I can't do it to save my soul, 30 minutes on Google and i was more confused then when i began .

If you've read this far, even if you have no advice for me i appreciate it a lot. Thanks for your time

Have you verified that the solenoid is indeed bad? You may just have an alignment problem, which can be fixed with an adjustment, if your 2000 is like my '97. The procedure to adjust it is fairly straightforward once you get the console cover off.

If the solenoid is bad, it can be found here: http://www.hondapartsnow.com/Page_Pr...3301%201238389

I assumed you had a 4 door in the search, but I would also assume that the part will work on a 2 door. However, just do a check to make sure. After you select your year/model, the shift lock solenoid will be found in the parts list for the "Select Lever". The part is only $21 online.

Go to a jy and get one. A 4 or 6cyl is the same.
