How do I remove bottom half of ac box under dash? 98 civic
Working on a buddy's 98 civic . The hose that runs from the ac box under the dash to the outside that vents the condensation has broke . I removed about 4 screws and 4 bolts but it doesn't want to seperate. What am I missing ?
Only 4 bolts need to be removed to take the entire box out which is probably easier than just removing the bottom portion. To make life easier, remove the bracket that holds the glove box on. You should be able to wiggle the box out.
If you just want to replace that drain hose, you don't even need to take that box out. I just did it recently. Get your head under there and slide the remains of the hose off, feed the new hose through the hole in the firewall and get under there again and attach it to the evaporator box.

Ron's got it. If you're trying to just remove the lower housing, there's also the metal bands that strap the two halves of the housing to each other.
Removing the whole thing is easy, if that's an option for you. Just pull it down and out.

Removing the box completely means opening up the AC system. Removing just the lower half *might* mean you don't have to open up the whole system but might actually be physically impossible. Installing a replacement evap drip tube is about a 5-second job if this is the only part that needs replacing and will not involve touching the evap core under the dash. Consider that that tube was installed originally after the evap core was mounted. Ergo, replacement will be just as easy (provided nothing else is broken).
However, OP: Consider adding a cabin filter at this time if you have this area open.
