ZC Turbo, I'm forgetting stuff!
I have thought about boosting my ZC, putting together my own turbo kit. I thought I would need a junkyard turbo, then probably a junk yard intercooler, a manifold, plumbing. But I completely forgot about fuel issues. How the crap do you get around this without spending a mint? You want more fuel when you are boosting, so it seems like you need a computer upgrate right? can someone explain it to me? Does this need to be moved to the turbo forum where I will be called names and ridiculed?

Fueling options:
FMU and Inline high pressure fuel pump-cheapest but inefficient and can be unreliable. This tends to run the car extremely rich and the fuel pressures are extremely high.
AFC hack and larger injectors- do a search for this one
SMC- do a search as well
Zdyne standalone and larger injectors
Other standalones....but cost mucho dinero$$$

I'm contemplating going turbo as well. Stop by the forced induction arena for some great information. Here is what I'm thinking of doing relating to fuel:
SMC+450CC injectors. Unlike the FMU route, you do not need to upgrade your fuel pump. Also, the SMC costs about $100.00 or so, whereas, the FMU+fuel pump+etc costs considerably more money. Like he said, do a search. There are some great informative threads about the SMC as well as other fuel related issues. Just my $.02 worth.

Yeah, skip the FMU. I'm running it on my ZC now. It works good and it really doesn't run all that overly rich, but it's costly as hell, and more than anything, the fuel pressures are too high. In theory I should be running over 100lbs of fuel pressure. SMC seems to be where its at.
Check this out. Planning to use a similar setup when I get my engine rebuilt.

SMC+450cc injectors=0wn3d to everyone...
I had a 12:1 FMU w/ stock injectors on a Greddy TD04H kit.. I would lean out after about 2 seconds of boosting. You're trying to push 120+ psi through injectors that peak out ~80 TOPS (Full cycle at this point).
SMC=$109+s/h
450cc injectors=~$50... http://www.dsmtrader.com http://www.thepartstrader.com
That's <$175-$200, and you'll be running rich all the way through 9psi. Along w/ the standard leaning functions, the SMC has awesome features for smoothing in to boost, keeping the CEL in check, and on the fly programming... I totally promote this product, as it's what's running my 9psi ZC right now...
