Icon2 2008 Honda Civic Ex won't start

Hi,
Can someone provide me with some assistance. My 08 Civic has been having a problem the past couple of months starting and now won't start. A few times I would try to start it, it would act like it didn't want to start. The lights, music would come on so you knew the battery wasn't dead ..you'd turn the key off ..then try it again 2 or 3 times and it would start.

I got in it the other day, it did start but acted like a weak start. Then when I cut it off and went to restart it , it won't start and you hear 1 click (If the hood is up, you hear the 1 click real good). The lights, music come still come on. I even took the battery out and up to AutoZone to confirm the battery was good.

So someone said its the starter. Could it be anything else? Remember there is only a 1 click sound.

Also, we tried looking for the starter on the 08 civic ex...using the internet to find the location. some sites said it was behind the air vent system, others said it was on passenger side and you'd have to go from up under the car to get to it...Does anyone know exactly where the starters are on the 08 civic ex?

It's the starter, especially if you have an automatic. They are prone to early failures.

Mine just started to have these symptoms 122k miles on it. Poor starter placement though. Going to PITA to change bit it could be worse. Any ideas why the starter for the automatic is a lot more expensive that the one for the manual? Torque output?

I did mine in about an hour and a half.

Its cheaper to rebuild a manual starter.

You sold your car because the starter went out ? It costed me $47($40 for starter and $40 for the core) from rockauto, and got the $40 back after paying rockauto $7 for a return shipping label. It took me about an hour and a half to replace it due to its location.

Is the solenoid an integral part of the starter or is it separate? Clicking used to be the solenoid was bad.

The solenoid is integral but repairable, the problem will be the high current contact in the solenoid are wore out. $5-$10 from any alt./starter shop and a couple hrs to Re/Re and repair, but as mentioned, $40 from Rock Auto for remand, will be easier. 94
