Icon2 Multi Function Light Switch auto cancel problem

2000 Accord EX/V6. Multi-function switch for the lights broke so I purchased a new one with a local auto parts store. The brand of the part I believe to be the same as would come from the Honda dealer. The first switch would not auto cancel the turn signal so I also replaced the housing the switch rests in but this did not fix the problem. Next I returned the switch under warranty and received a new switch which also will not auto cancel the turn signals. The switches seem very stiff and will auto cancel about one out of 50 times. Should I return and buy the part directly from Honda or is there another fix for my problem. Thanks in advance.

If you bought it at a local parts store its probably a cheap replacement part. A Honda dealership would replace it with a Honda part. Yes, replace it with an OEM one.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to try a Honda part to see if it makes a difference. I'll reply with the results.

I finally received the Honda part and have it installed. The Honda part was substantially smoother and easier to operate than the aftermarket part. The Honda part auto cancel also worked flawlessly. Looking at the two different parts you cannot see any difference. The only indication of a possible problem was the stiffness of the switch when using the turn signal. The Honda part was very smooth and easy and the after market part was very stiff and felt rather heavy. The auto parts store refunded my money for the after market part without any grief and agreed that sometime OEM is the only way to go. After all there's a reason Honda cars hold up so well for so long.
