tune-up problem?
My son-in-law did a complete tune-up on my 1997 Honda Accord August last year. About December it started acting up (check engine light came on, car started "missing"). He checked and a plug wire was loose. He was told later that when replacing plug wires, etc. on Hondas, you need actual Honda products, not Auto Zone. Has anyone else had this issue, and is this an actual fact? Some things need to be Honda vs. other brands?
An OEM part is usually known to fit better than some aftermarket part. In the case of autozone spark plug wire sets, they have been known to pop off and not seat properly. I have seen a few that have used dielectric grease in the plug ends and had some levels of success with keeping them down.
Sumitomo or NGK are considered OEM replacement on the Accords. You will have no popping or fitment issues with ether of those sets.

Accel has a good fitment very snug and seat on valve cover properly duralast suck, bosch fits good but doesn't seat on cover very tight, my accels seem to fit as well or better then sumitomo, but my sumitomos were old when i got them so that could be why they don't sit as well
NGK you should be able to get at NAPA... I also had Accel wires and they fit really well. Never saw any gains over my original Sumitomo wires except the colour.
Sumitomo (dealership or online Honda parts store) = $50-$60
NGK - $40-$60 (Summit Racing Price)
Accel - $65 (Summit Racing Price)
