B18C blowing black smoke at high rpm's
Hey HT, i am new to posting my own problems and i have been asking all my local honda gurus but i cant get a legit answer and i am scared of what i might come across. I have a 98 ek hatch with a JDM b18c with a p73e ecu, password intake aem fuel rail walboro 255 and type r header to a 2.5 gutted cat and magnaflo resinator with a vibrant flatblack muffler. I daily drive it and pretty much baby it unless i really have to get on it. I recently found out i was blowing black smoke when i get on it past 5500. From what I know black equals running rich and then some friends told me when i was really getting on it i would throw fire ***** which im still getting that there is a lot of unburnt fuel there. I am seeing a lot of things i can do for troubleshooting or fixing i.e FPR vafc and a lot of other stuff. When i bought the car 5 months ago the compression tested fine all withen 5 of each other any tips on the best way to go about this would be great.
Why the huge pump?
Figure out a way to monitor or log fuel pressure. Esiest thing to do is to get a long oil/fuel pressure gage, attach it to the filter, and run it over the cowl and tape it to the windshield while you drive.
What type of B18C? GS-R? ITR?

i recently discovered that my 97 civic w/ d16 is doing the same, unsure of the rpms(don't have a tac) but close to rev limiter. its this cars 3rd motor other 2 threw rods... i guess the stock internals don't like my driving style. almost looks like a diesel "rolling coal." its 2 inch strait piped to a small generic muffler. (got too may tickets with the can..)
