Default Throttle body stuck? Gas pedal only goes down half way

'94 stock integra rs

Alright so last night I was on my way home from dropping a friend off at his house. I decided to have a quick moment of fun and opened her up in first gear (~ 7k rpms) then shifted to second but right after that my gas pedal felt like it got stuck half way down.

When I took it out of gear, the rpms rose all the way to about 3k due to the stuck pedal. While in neutral, I quickly mashed the gas pedal a couple times and it dropped back down to regular idle.

But when I tried going from a stop, I couldn't get her to go past like 2.5k rpms. I tried limping her home but when I started going a little uphill, I could tell she wasn't going to make it. I wasn't going to try to drive uphill in a 50 mph zone doing 20 in first or second gear so I turned into the first neighborhood I could and parked it.

This morning I went back and checked the throttle cable. It appeared fine, but when I tried to move the spring that opens the throttle body (moving it counter clockwise), it felt like it would only go half way then stop like it was hitting something.

So I took off my intake to inspect and saw this plate that looked like the bottom of a soda can. I'm not too experienced with throttle bodies, but I don't think I've ever seen this plate before. Please see attached photo. Isn't the plate that moves inside the throttle body called the "butterfly" something-or-other?? Anyhow, would this soda can looking thing be the back of the butterfly plate? (As if it did a complete 180 and got stuck?)

When I tried moving the spring, it feels like whatever the spring is moving, is hitting this soda can looking plate. But I see nothing in the throttle body moving. This soda can plate thing will not budge at all.

Anyone ever see anything like this before? I am trying to look up pictures of integra throttle bodies and no pic I've seen yet has this weird looking plate I see in mine.

Is my throttle body toast?

Okay my buddy who is a honda tech asked me if I have an intake, which I do (a generic cone filter), and he said it looks like the cap from an intake. O_O

What the hell? Intake filters have caps like this inside that can just come loose and get stuck in the TB?! Wow, how safe!

Now I want to look inside the filter to see if it looks like it's missing anything inside, but I can't at the moment.

yes it's refered to as a butterfly sometimes. 2nd I highly recommend you take the throttle body of from the intake manifiold then try opening the plate. as for tunred 180 no it can't do that with if you look at what would have to break for that to happen. but open it as much as you can and look head on in it maybe something got stuck/bent if not it's 4 bolts and unclipping some plugs.

thanks for the reply, man!

so yeah, it turned out to be a stupid cap that came off the filter! i had to remove the TB and push it out from the back. last year a friend replaced my engine and gave this filter to me since i still had the stock air box.

i knew it was a cheap filter, but damn!

thank god it didn't do any serious damage.

so that's why the plate looked funny ! haha I've NEVER seen or heard of something like that happen due to a cheap filter. ya lucky it got caught before it had a chance to get into the intake manifold

That's downright rediculous, what filter is that?

i have no idea who made the filter but its your typical type of filter you would most likely find in the "tuner" section of pep boys. it doesn't have a brand or name on it anywhere. it really makes me wonder exactly why my friend gave it to me for free in the first place.

all i know is i am not putting another filter on my car that has a metal cap like this on the end of it.
