Default Enough struggling, I want power steering back..

alright so ive got a 97 civic ex with a B18C swap. Recently finished the swap and worked out bugs and such. now i'm looking to tackle power steering. right now the d16 pump with original line is still in the car. however due to a wider motor and the wrong bracket i couldn't hook it up as you have probably guessed. I do have the integra P/S line and pump. My thoughts were to cut both P/S lines and use the d16 for the rack side "because the fittings to the P/S rack match" and have a hydraulic shop put a union in, then on the pump side use the integra fitting with pump to match the B18 bracket. the reason i was thinking this could work is i've seen unions in P/S lines before, OEM, Napa, ect.

Anyone see any flaws with this plan? or have a different route in mind?

My advice is to **** IT. You don't need power steering. These older Hondas weight hardly anything at all and it isn't too hard to turn the steering wheel even when the car is off. Now get in my dad's truck, then you've got a problem because it weighs over 4 thousand pounds.

i know it's not too bad. and personally i think you can feel the car/road better with manual. however the rack is in there, and the line/ pump are just hanging doing nothing. for now the car is just having small things done to it as far as motor. So it's not like i'm trying to lose pullys. P/S is just a little more convenient than manual when at a stand still.

hit the gym... even with 7.5-8" wide tires its not that bad ...try creeping the car to get the wheels to turn easier.... we have a FAQ section for a reason ... do a search it took 2 seconds to find this:

I go to the gym. Ever try parallel parking one of these in a tight space without power? Not fun.

I don't think this guy is asking for opinions, but more for help. A lot of us here prefer non-power steering, but that doesn't mean everyone does.

Couldn't you just use all b series stuff for power steering? I heard its hard to swap over power racks as well.

So why doesn't he get the right parts/bracket instead of all that cutting and hacking?

98+ integra or 99-00 si pump will work.

right, so my one question was about the union. otherwise i understand all the differences and what pump/brackets would work ect. I've done my research and came across that FAQ. My gathering is "do it if you'd like" and I dont go to the gym, between an old dodge ram and my civic with no P/S its enough to keep me busy lol.

And it's not the point of having wide tires that are grippy and creeping the car a tad. all of this is dealt with on a day to day basis. however i do understand, though its a GSR civic, it's not a race car. So I don't want quite to inconvenient for the time being.

thanks for all your help guy! I'll just choose the path that's easiest and most cost effective in the end.

Easiest and most cost effective doesn't usually equal up to the correct and most dependable way in the end.

^ I er came in here to say that, guess I don't have to now

If you have the other style feed line you should be able to just use the whole thing though, IIRC it's only the pump end thats different, the rack end is the same.
