88 civic dies when givin gas

Default 88 civic dies when givin gas

I have a 88 ef hatch d15. All stock but intake. 5speed. My car will bogg out if I put it in gear and try to drive it , it will idel fine it wil almost die when I give it gas but when I let off the gas and push in clutch it's fine. I have put a new fuel pump and filter and its getting good gas. Can't figure it out

unbolt the cataylic converter. to see if it will runs better. if it does you have a stoped up converter.

i will today. Even if i press the gas a little it will almost die.

If the converter checks out ok. Check for vacuum leaks. Then check timing to make sure the belt didnt jump time.

I have checked all the lines and the cat was ok. I don't have a timing gun to check the timing. When I try to drive it it jerks and bogs down about to die till I press the clutch in and then it idles fine

you dont need a timing light you line up the mark on the timing cover to crank pulley . And pull the vavle cover and the upper cover to make sure all the mark are alinged up properly
