Default Power Steering Doesn't Seem Effective

Yesterday I was replacing the sub-frame on my 2000 EX, of course you have to remove the steering rack. when i put everything back together it seemed like it was hard to turn the steering wheel. it was working properly before. All the hoses are hooked up and the fluid isn't leaking. i did not use Genuine Honda Power Steering fluid so i don't know if that's the cause or not. any help would be appreciated

Thanks

What fluid did you use? Honda has their own fluid that's specifically made for their racks.

I used Prestone PS Fluid that was not made for a honda steering rack.

Get that out of there ASAP. It will ruin the rack and the pump. You don't have to use genuine Honda fluid, but needs to at least be Honda/Acura compatible PS fluid.

Does the system make any noise?
Did you bleed the system?
Is the P/S belt tensioned?

I changed out the Power Steering fluid to Prestone Honda/Acura Compatible fluid and that seemed to fix the issue. everything is all good now.

Thanks Guys

Cool. I never knew fluid could cause an issue like this.
