Brown Bread and Dynamat Stuff
I just did my whole car in Dynamat Xtreme (got two bulk packs free) and it helped a bit. I don't think I would have done it if I would have had to but it. It was probably like 300 or 400 dolllars worth that I used.
I did a Toy PU in dynamat and it worked great. When I got my Camry, I decided to test how well it works, partly b/c I just bought a Db meter a couple weeks before. Just doing the front doors dropped road noise at 65 MPH down 3 DB. This is the equivalent of doubling the power of your amplifier. $30 in Dynamat or $200 on an amp? Only problem it is heavy, but definitely works.
i used Brown Bread on my car. i put it on my on my doors (and on the exterior metal right behind the speakers, and from the rear seats back. tried to make everything air tight. it definately made a big difference in the bass of my infinity speakers, sounds much better. it also reduced road noise a little. it gave my exhaust a different tone from inside the car too. i havn't been able to see how it helps my subs cuz im still workin on my custom false floor setup. i think the brown bread is worth it, but i would never pay a couple hundred dollars for dynamat, brown bread works just as good, and is lighter too.
Brown Bread
but like dynamat, this is a mass adding product that will reduce vibration in panels by lowering their resonant frequency so that it basically won't vibrate at the point it did before.
This will help, but common sense says 1/4" thick asphalt will NOT help road noise as much as some would like. This is why if you combine it with a sound dampener, such as simple home depot carpet padding (what i'm using on my floors) and possibly some fiberglass noise insulation (looks like compressed pink stuff, but its snot green) on the door panels you should have a huge difference!

Cascade audio also makes sound deadening material..Never tried it but, maybe someone here on the forum has? I have used the expanding foam that is used for house insulation to fill in hard to reach places or structural supports.. It worked well for that cause you can't get in or behind there with other materials, but it may be a bit overkill..
