Default Newbie wants to add Nitrous in CA

I've owned my 2000 Type R for a number of years and it is 100% Stock.
I figured this forum would know what is best for the Type R and know where to go, as I am concerned having just anyone work on my type R.
Like most Type R owners I am paranoid letting anyone even near the car.

I have an urge to add a Nitrous system or tank to the car.

I have 2 questions.

1. Will it hurt my engine and car seeing that it is stock ?

2. Can anyone recommend a shop in So Cal that can install and sell
me one that is right for my little gem ?

thank you in advance....

I've seen the way you drive, you'll blow yourself up. You've got a heavy foot.

Did your car top out at 140MPH this morning? If so this is the proper response... Amateurs don't use nitrous oxide! I've seen the way you drive, you got a heavy foot! You'll blow yourself to pieces!

You need one of these.
One of the big ones. Actually, let's make it two.

But seriously I've seen stock ITR's run for years on 75-125 wet shots. I've considered it but stock internals and nitrous doesn't thrill me. When a nitrous car blows the motor, it really blows the motor!

Yes, you can run small amounts of nitrous on a stock setup. Nitrous isn't a miracle juice that detonates motors everywhere that is controlled by a switch on the steering wheel.

Go buy a kit, preferably dry. You can get a full dry system from ZEX with a bottle for ~500.00 new. You can install it yourself, its quite simple.

you can also send your ecu to get chipped with hondata or get ems aem and tune it. or also another option is water meth injection. it is safer then nitrous. either one you choose i would say get a tune as well at the end

I've installed a few ZEX wet kits in the past. I really like that kit. I'd recommend a 50 shot with one step colder plugs. You should not have any issues with dependability. The wet kit will mix fuel and nitrous, so it's a lot safer and you can get away with not tuning the car. A dry kit is not for you.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes was going to sell it as family member did not end up taking it.
I kept it garaged and thought if I could get some extra quickness out
of it without making many changes I would do it.

It does have low miles and that is why I thought to keep it as much stock as possible.

Can anyone recommend a shop that can offer a few of the solutions mentioned in this thread, that can sell the product and also install it ?
So Cal area is where I am currently.

thanks

Don't do it!!!! Risks out weigh the rewards IMO. This idea sparked from F&F6?

What he said! I know the itch for more power all to well. It's just not worth the risk.

For what you get its not worth it. Itll slowly Deteriorate your engines internals piston rings valve seals, valves an possible whole pistons. Type R's are pretty healthy stock for the money you could focus on gettin the power you do got 100% to the ground, clutch maybe better suspension or tires. The right tires might be the light mod your lookin for lol. Really just depends on how serious you wanna start modifying your R.

If you do it you might end up havin to get the mad scientist to rip apart the block an replace the piston rings youll fry... Lol sorry had to do it.

It doesn't sound like the ITR is your daily driver.

Why don't you have a nos kit put on your daily?
