Icon6 F22B1 Engine Swap.

I have a 94 Accord EX Sedan with the F22B1 motor and this old girl is Tired. She has 355,359 miles on her without any major problems! I was Wondering if anybody could recommend an engine that would fit her well?
Thanks,
R.

your could get another f22b1 and swap it right in. or go a different route if u want more power. a h22 swap is an easy swap, costs more than just getting an f22b1 but your looking at 190-200hp.

i chose to rebuild my f22b1 but tahts bc i want to boost.

I definantly want to go with more power. Have you installed the turbo on the F22B1 yet? I am interested in seeing how it goes and what kind of increase you will get. Also, do you know if the H22 will take a boost also?
Thanks for repling,
R.

Theres a few people with turbo f22s. Ash in winston salem nc was running 365whp 300tq and he was running 85mm forged pistsons rods. He ran that hp for a year or so and now hes going for 500whp lol

Im not boosted yet, check my build thread. Im running 86mm bisimoto forged pistons rods. I am gonna boost once i get to about 10,000 miles. Ive done a lot lf random custom stuff and want to make sure all my problems are sorted out. Mine will be running again tonight and i shouldnt have any issues. Dyno tuning next week if all goes well

U should check out NZXTInerTia's thread. He will most likely be boosted before i will and hes running stock internals.

And in regards to the h22, they're not good with boost on stock internals. U can do and people do it but its deff not recommended unless you rebuild it. But that gets expensive bc u have to resleave and some other stuff. You should google it i dont know all the details but there are plenty of threads about boosting h22s.

I say h22 if u want basic bolt ons and 200hp with dohc vtec. I was originally going to do this. Easy swap.

Thanks for the info I appreciate it. Do you know if the H22 runs well with the 4 speed automatic tranny? Or should I look into changing it to the 5 speed manual?
Thanks,
R.

You don't have to resleeve the block. Just get Mahle's Gold Series pistons, and you're good to go.

if you get it from hmotors i believe you can get it with a transmission for a couple hundred more. idk about the f22 but i know if u do the h22 swap you can upgrade to the lsd 5 speed for a couple hundred more from hmotors.

@ Nus Dogg. So your saying to do a boost on the h22 you don't have to have the cylinders sleeved, all you need are Mahle's gold series pistons?.

The FRM cylinders are lighter, they dissipate heat better and, from what I have seen, are just as strong as the OEM iron sleeves. The engines weakness while under boost is usually the OEM cast pistons. In the case of the FRM sleeves Mahle is a manufacturer that warranties their forged piston with FRM sleeves. Most other piston manufacturers require/request iron cylinder sleeving.

FRM is only really a problem when there's damage to the cylinder liners, as they can't be bored over like an iron/steel sleeve.

x2

0.25mm over stock is the max bore Honda recommends for FRM....
