cold air intake people!
Hey what do yall do when it rains? or when u see a puddle, and how big would the puddle have to be to actually go though the mudguard and though the intake. im just paranoid and if i see just a lil water i almost stop and just roll.
grit my teeth....... i had a CAI on my GSR, took it off before i traded in for the ITR. The CAI had streaks of water all through it. The ITR came with one as well and i took it off, exact same thing, more water streaks
I have one and drive in rain, not a down pour but rain shower. If I see a puddle which I am always looking for I avoid at all costs. To be honest and as dumb as this might sound, some roads over here are sloped in a sense. So I just stay to the higher part this way I don't hit the monsoon of a river at the bottom. If you are that worried just get a bypass. I don't have one. Just be carefull!
I don't drive my car in the rain, but I know that's not an option for a lot of people.
If you are that worried, invest in a bypass filter, put your stock intake back on, or invest in a different system with which you won't have to worry about hydrolock.

i died in the rain before hitting a puddle. worse feeling in the world when your car wont' start. this was in my accord. i have a integra now and i don't even bother with a cold air. i just don't want anything like that happening again
its got to be pretty deep i think, i had one on my old car and i drove thru a hug dip in the road and the water was flowing thru it, like maybe almost a foot deep! what i would do is make it a short ram when its raining and put the cold air extension back on in the summer or something.
I would definitely just spend the 50 bucks for the bypass. I DID hydrolock my stock motor on my 97 gs-r not fun guys, my car was down for three months getting a new engine, and getting it installed, not to mention the financial setback. And to think if I just had a bypass valve it might of saved me thousands...
the road i was driving down was slightly flooded, and I tried to coast through it, but there was a guy riding me, and I gassed it a bit, and thats when it happened..

how reliable is the bypass valve? i mean does it pretty much guarentee that you won't hydrolock or is there still a chance of it happening? i just got a gsr and i'm thinkin of the AEM CAI as my first mod, but it makes me nervous.
Sport Compact Car did a research project on this not to long ago and they sumberged the filter in a fish tank. I just stuck with the ram air. not worth risking it to me.
hmm... i have a cold air in my car.... nothing wrong here... just avoid puddles or just avoid driving in the rain... it shouldnt get that bad... i have no guard down there.. .and i have no trouble when it comes to driving in the rain (knock on wood)
ahhh, screw it then - i'm not gonna get one. so with ram air you avoid all occurrences of this alltogether? and how much hp would you generally get from one?
When I see a puddle I usually let off the gas and cruise by it slowly without giving it gas.....or I just drive my CRX that day.......

im not too worried about the puddles just when it rains, so can you basically not drive int he rain? I would think the mud guard would protect it, or what if you just cover it up by bolting something on the bottom on the mud guard.
the pipe inlet part of the filter has to be completely submerged in water before the engine will take in water. Unless you are on throttle going through a DEEP puddle, then you deserve to lose the moter.
