Strange Rattling Noise?
Hey Honda Tech, for the pass 2 days I've been hearing a strange rattling noise from the engine bay I believe. The noise seems to be from the passenger side of the bay and only occurs between 2.7k-2.9k rpm accelerating and decelerating. Does anyone have an idea of what or where the sound may be coming from? Also no CELs on. Only recent thing I've done was change the front brake pads.
Check the disc splash guard, #21...

Make sure you did not bend it, make sure it is not loose and check for debris between it and rotor/hub.
Could also be distributor, loose rotor maybe.
You can "localize" the noise by using a length of rubber hose like a stethoscope, stick one end up to your ear, have someone rev the engine to get the rattle, move the other end of hose around the engine bay,as you get closer to the source it will be louder. 94

Thanks guys, tomorrow I'll check the disc splash guard to see if anything is wedged in between. Noticed my header was a little raspier than usual on a cold start tonight when I got off work. Good thing I get out of school early and off from work tomorrow. I'll report back the results.
check the accelerator cable and possibly cruise control cable if you have one. mine was making a noise in the same rpm range. its the sound of the metal cable rattling against the black plastic clip that is used to hold it in place on the fire wall. Does it kinda sound like a metal wire rattling against the fire wall, or kinda sounds like a metal washer vibrating on a bolt/nut?
