I've got a 2000 GS-R and it red lines at `~7200 rpms. I talked to the previous owner and he didn't mention any aftermarket engine management, and he rebuilt the original motor. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas why it would do this... it does go into vtec, and it hits around 5.2k

any insight would be greatly appreciated!

 

Either you'r TACH is off or you have a chipped ecu can you take a pic of it ?

 

A pic of the cluster or ecu? and I know the mph's are off by ~5

 

ECU take a pic of the bar code or just tell if it says p72 or something else and if you can take a pic of the ECU bord it's self.

 

Limp mode? You got any CELs?

but that would be an odd limp mode with VTEC and only off the redline/FC of 8000/8200 but with a chipped ECU those are more often than not dissabled.

 

I'm thinking "VTEC" is the IAB which might still activate in limp mode.
