Default Installed exhaust - how do I fix the rattle?

I'm pretty sure the rattle is coming from the heatshield on the cat (I don't know what I was thinking when I took off that one). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I was thinking about putting some gasket material between the top and bottom halves of the heatshield and then tightening it to prevent the vibration. What do you guys think?

i took my heatshield off personally, and the rattle went away. The heatshield is not necessary either ...or at least from my knowledge i know it isn't ...GL

The temperatures involved are not friendly to most materials other than similar metals. Dealers use large hose clamps to hold the shield on when they are loose. ANother option is to have someone TIG it on for you at a muffler shop. Removing it completely could pose a fire hazard depending on where you drive and park the car.

Just find the part of the heat shield that is contacting the exhaust and bent it out of the way with some pliers.

remove it, bend it or clamp it down.

the heat shield is not essential. ran without one for a number of years with no problem.

Do you think it might possibly be the connection between the header and cat?

I'mretty sure I got those 3 bolts on tight, although the top one was a pain. If I cant fix it with using the strips of gasket I'll try bending it out of the way. I don't want to remove it copletely since sometimes I park in grass.

I did that with my DC Sports Exhaust on my Accord. Problem solved.
