Default 2001 vtec prelude is spitting and spuddering. Help!

Just bought a 01 h22a prelude and its spitting and spuddering. It idles real low and after running for a bit will shut off if you don't keep your foot on the gas. Took it to Honda and they said cylinders 2 and 3 have only 60psi compression. Beside the somewhat ruff running engine it still performs well vtec is still kicking in and like I said before as long as your foots on the gas it stays running. Just replaced distributor cap, all new platinum plugs and ngk wires. It is backfiring but not very badly. Was wondering if there's absolutely anything I can do that isn't very major to keep me from replacing the engine and keep it alive, or what exactly the problem is and I'd it's worth fixing or replacing. Thanks!
