1990 Accord EX Manual Gauge Cluster Not Working.
Hey everyone. I have a 1990 Accord EX with manual transmission. Recently my gauge cluster or parts of my gauge cluster stopped working. At first it happened then started working again but since it worked it has now stopped completely. The only things that work in the cluster are the battery light and the high beams light. The hazard lights work but then the turn signals do not. Also the clock does not work either. All the fuses are fine and intact also. I have checked other threads and other sites but everyone says either speed sensor, bad cluster or bad wires somewhere. Is that pretty much what I'm looking at or is there now something else?

The seat belt motors do go bad. So that might be your problem there. Try taking apart your dash and cleaning all of the electrical connectors under the dash and hood.

Ok. So I went out this morning and had the same problem. But just a second ago I went out and turned the key to the on position to see if it would work and its working again. But not for long is what I am thinking. Does that mean a switch or sensor or something else other than the small 7.5 to 30 fuses? (edit post 12:07) Stopped working again. I took it for a drive to see if it would shut off on me but it did not. Got home and turned the key to II to listen to a song. After the song was over I turned the key back to III and it wasn't working again. Windows are down and now even those will not roll up. I am lost...

So I am starting to think it has to be a bigger problem... if the windows do not roll up but the sunroof works, the auto seat belts will open but not close, only the alternator (battery) light turns on when key is turned to the III position, the fuel gauge is the only one that works with the tach, speedo and temp gauge not working, clock doesn't work. interior lights, ignition light, dash lights (when headlights are turned on instrument cluster illuminates) all work. Turn signals do not work but hazards will work. I have cleaned out connectors and checked all fuses but nothing has worked. I am not sure where the ground wire is located so I have not took it apart and cleaned it for a better contact. I am now completely lost. This problem has happened then went back to working again a few times but now stopped completely. I am in need of some dire help.

So I see that no one knows what to do to fix this... I have cleaned connectors, ground wires (both side panel grounds), but still cant get it to work. The first time I cleaned the ground by the fuse box it worked for a few days but has now stopped again.

Ok, I'll bite....I've read this a few times and moved on.
So, did the cluster work fully at any time?
Own a volt meter?
Key to On/pos II - do you have voltage to C1 on the gauge cluster connection? Then check D2 for continuity to ground?

It did work fully when I bought it, then randomly after it went out, and then after I cleaned the ground by the fuse box on the drivers side kick panel. I have taken it to a mechanic friend and he is going through it now. I will relay the message to him about what you said.
I know its an old thread but maybe someone still needs help.
This happened to my homeboys 90 integra yesterday. He showed up to my house with his dash in pieces. Checked his fuses and it was fuse 23.
If the auto seatbelts, clock, and instrument panel are all out simultaneously this is the issue. I dont know what fuse number 23 correlates to the 90 accord but I'm sure you can figure it out from here. 👍
