Install On New Distrbutor Cap / Rotor ???????
Ok I was wondering if any one has changed there distr. cap and rotor along with plugs. How easy or hard is this install? does any one have a detailed description on how to do this and how long it might take? Thanks
it's very self explanitory. just remove the screws...you have to bump the starter...turn the key alittle to turn the rotor and you will see a screw. I have done it so many times now, that I can tell how much to turn the car over. hope this helps.
It's not hard, but it is easy to strip the screw.
BTW, if you have a 96 or 97 Teg, Acura will give you one free ignition system tune-up and oil change between 75k and 150k miles. Just ask them about the Emissions Warranty Extension.

its very easy... for the plugs its a 5/8" spark plug socket and extension that you need.. take out the old plugs and make sure you have the new ones correctly gapped.. since you dont say whether you have a B18B (RS, LS, GS, SE, etc) or a GSR.. I'll leave you to look up the spec yourself.... anyway you basically pull the spark plug wire out of the spark plug socket/cylinder that your going to change.. loosen the plug then pull/lift it out (the spark plug socket should have a rubber donut that grabs around the plug to lift it out.. .
if you don't have that and wanna do it the "ghetto" way..then you can get a 5/8" socket and loosen it.. then to get the plug out of the recessed hole.. I think you get a 3/8" section of vinyl tubing/hose to plug in and "grab onto" the spark plug after its loosened... install is reverse and I think the torque spec is like 13 ft-lb
for the dist cap and rotor.. make sure you know which wire goes where and/or the firing order (1-3-4-2) so you know where the plug wires go on the new rotor.. then undo the plug wires.. unscrew the screws holding the cap... use the starter to "turn" the rotor until you see the screw.. make sure you have a correct/larger size philips screwdriver so you don't strip the screw on the rotor.. press in hard while turning/loosening and it should unscrew and lift out... install is reverse...
both are pretty easy procedures.. as for how long it should take under an hour.. maybe an hour since its your first time doing this procedure and your probably going to be cautious and slow...

ok guys, I tried to do my ignition tune up today....cap, rotor, plugs, and wires.
Well, everything went fine, till I tried to get that damn lock screw out of the rotor. DAMN that thing is tight. I didn't strip it, but I sure as hell couldn't get it out. I just left the rotor alone for now.
Do you guys have any tips on how to get this screw to loosen up???

Buy an impact driver, they're cheap and come in handy when working with that screw as well as the set screws on your rotors when you're doing a brake job. BTW remember to put anti-seize lubricant on the threads of the new plugs, don't need to strip the threads out down the line.
i just pressed in really hard while turning the screwdriver and it turned/loosened... I used the largest blade philips screwdriver I had from my 18 pc. Craftsman set..... make sure you don't try to use a small tipped philips screwdriver or else it might strip the screw....
