Ran a 15.4 with type r swap! Something wrong? Help?
I have a 98 Civic ex, with a b18c5 swap. Tonight I went to the track and ran a best of 15.4. I know I could do a little better with reaction times, and my shifting wasn't so good cause I was kinda tense being my first time. but that seem kinda ridiculous. Keep in mind I also have I/H/E cam gears. And a clutchmasters stage 3. I also had a full interior including a 12 in sub and 2 amps..so if anyone knows what the problem might be, let me know I would really appreciate it!

Depends on the track and weather. What was your MPH and 60ft times?

I am running on cheap 17in rally sport rims with 40 series tire (federal if you want to know) and some one said driver...I don't suck, this was my first time at the track, and I am sure you didn't just go out there and run perfect, plus I had no one to tell me anything I was exerimenting my self. Today I dropped the clutch, I figured I should have feathered it, but once I was at the line, I never did.

U need more practice on the track. Its SOOO much different than on the street. keep going and you will get used to it and not be so scared.
Wheels and Tires
ive never seen a fairly stock typeR or gsr or hybrid get into the 14's on 17'' tires and wheels. no launch and no grip.

your 60 ft. sucked probably due to you just dropping the clutch on big heavy 17's with crappy tires. the mph was pretty good, put on smaller wheel next time and feather the clutch a little bit get you 60' times down and your et's will drop accordingly. oh and don't worry about r/t it's only test and tune take your time.
Looks like it have been the launch; since it was your first time and you were experimenting, it could be "THE DRIVER." I have talked to guys that drag race professionally and they said that it takes a couple runs to get used to the car.
17 full interior and subs don't help either. If it was 50 "defrees" your car could have had catastrophic deformations.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Right now I don't have the money for new tires or rims and slicks...atleast right now. I was saving for a traction bar, hondata and a new block to begin preparing for boost. Are you saying you think I should get tires and stuff first? Appreciated the comments. Do or have any of yal race at Memphis Motorsports Park
Catastrophic deformations? Like what? and maybe it is me but like I said it is the first itme. Oh and my check engine light came on after second run. But I have no idea why. The car still runs perfect.

Ok, tell me this is not funny!
Trapping at 89 with a B18c5 is pretty slow. Maybe ur car too heavy? 17 wheels?
Ur 60 isnt great but is not horrible specialy for first time. Lots of people cant even break in to 2.4
U should find out if ur motor is indeed running good or not.

maybe you got ripped off and it's not a b18c5

with I/H/E and shitty tires but it's 15"
well good luck next time yo
my worst was like 15.1 or 15.2.
**** happens~
so i guess your time is not THAT bad
but could have been alot better with practice

u got any friends with smaller rims, im sure they will trade for a day, or at least your front tires.. like they say: practice makes perfect (not exactly perfect)...
i went into a empty street and only practiced my launches (only up to about 10mph), its much different than the track, but u get a feel for it. try differnt tecniques when u race..

I ran a 14.6 with an even slower 60'
It is definitely your rims/tires, and weight of the car.
At 2000' elevation, my ITR runs consistent 89-92 MPH trapspeeds stock.

Weight and driver.
1) Dont be nervious.
2) Your car probabally weighs more than a itr w/ those bling bling 17's and that sub in back.
Solution: Gut that focker, throw on some 15" rotas and drive it like u stole it.
PS. Before spending thousands of mods on a car, PLEASE LEARN TO DRIVE IT, so u can get the most from your money.

im pretty sure 96+ civic coupes, are still no more than 2400lbs
and that 60ft aint 'that' terrible...though you should be pulling 2.2 60's on streets at the least, which would still equate to at most,15 flat runs..somethings up with your highend
elevation?
