Default Turn signal switch not automatically switching off

Morning HT'ers, i got an annoyance on my hands im wondering if you guys can help me with. Yesterday i changed my old stock switch as it finally gave out(92 accord LX coupe). To pull it out i had to strongarm it a bit as it was in there pretty good after 23 years. I put the new one in and alls good but now it doesnt seem to automatically click off when turning the wheel in the reverse direction. This isnt a problem for me really as im used to manually switching it off in older cars without this function, but my gf seems unable to grasp this concept lol. Any ideas? I did notice a very small half circle plastic piece broke but its still intact, only by a bit. It is outlined in red on the attached pic, very small on there but the actual one has a small hole which this one doesnt show.
