Default Blower motor delete: Is there a way to seal up the hole?

I have a 93 hatch and I'm doing some wire tucking and deleting a few things. I have deleted the blower motor but now I don't know what to do with the hole (the big hole in the bulkhead on the passenger side) where the motor used to get air from. I want to seal it up, I tried using some plastic and silicon but it didn't work out.

Is there some way to seal it up?
A DIY or anything?

This is NOT my daily driver and will only be driven on nice days so I do not need/want to keep my heat or A/C.

I've used plexi glass before and a heat gun to be able to make contours. And then try RIGHT STUFF gasket maker to seal it upm

Piece of galvanized steel from hardware store+ fold edges over the top of vertical piece in the cowl and seal w/silicone+ fasten it to the existing vertical pieces w/rivets- done.
