I have a choppy idle, it was suggested that I clean out the IACV. I did so and have had a starting problem ever since. The IACV seems to get hotter than it should. Also, the tube from my valve cover to the throttle body tunnel gets very hot. I have an intermented check engine light for a code 1 and a code 43 show up. Ive read all the problems that could cause a rough idle and it seems that it could be just about anything. I would appreciate much help! Thanks.

I would pull your O2 Sensor and check it out, probably could use a cleaning...

Fuel Supply could be a clogged fuel filter or a fuel pump which I think would be the more common issues, and both could be related to choppy idle.

I had choppy idle and went through the everything, and ended up I have low compression in cylinder 2. I was getting the O2 code and the EACV code, cleaned them both and reset ECU, code issue was resolved. But my idle was still messed up. Did a full tune-up and reset the timing. And in the end had a much bigger problem.

A compression test is easy and takes less then 30 mins, and the testers are cheap, so I don't know why I waited to the end to check it. Being that its so easy to do, I would check it out if I were you and just rule out what could be a big problem.

 

Maybe running a fuel tank of 91 octane and a whole 32oz bottle of Lucas cleaner could fix the idle problem. Running bad gas constantly will take its toll on a motor
