Question about transmission
Hello Honda Tech Community,
My used transmission is making a very very slight rattling sound when clutch is out. I'm assuming it is the ISB. I'm thinking about swapping in another transmission. I have a Civic 2000 EX. Should I get a " JDM used tranny" or a rebuilt one like a Syncrotech? Or should I bring it in to a shop and have them rebuild it with a kit? Any help would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Edward

I wouldn't get a used transmission. Getting it rebuilt by a professional trans shop (Gearspeed, Synchrotech, Whoopee Doo Racing in alphabetical order for bias' sake) is the best option. Where are you located?
The rattling sound could be as simple as a throwout bearing. Could also be deeper, it is difficult to diagnose without seeing or hearing it.
Cost for rebuilds depends on how much needs replacing inside. At minimum youre looking at like $800 with labor and parts like bearings and seals and synchros. Let us know when you are in town, stop by and we can take care of you!
