New Hatch Owner
Hi, everyone!! Been helping my man with his 97 hatch for over a year and learning all I can. Apparently I've learned enough to have my own because he bought me a 99 for my birthday. I've only had her a week as of today, but he says this is the place to come for all my questions. According to him you guys are the Honda Bible, so here I am!!
Thank you!! I've used his account here and there to look stuff up when I was still shopping for my hatch, and it's always proved helpful. Looking forward to really digging in now that I have my own.
Right now mine needs some minor cosmetics taken care of (just little things here and there), then I'll start working on more hp. The previous owner was a half-asser, so there are some paint and body issues that I was able to get him to knock a few bucks off the price for. It looks great from a distance and we've gotten a ton of compliments, but I'm OCD and I can see the flaws. This car was definitely painted by somebody's homeboy in their backyard, but they did a decent enough job that I can live with it for now. Previous owner also claims he "dropped" the bumper and cracked it, but he clearly tapped something with it, so that's the first project. I'm struggling to find an Si bumper, though. Right now the car is a gun metal grey with ruby red Rota Slipstreams and the kid got the valve cover painted to match. Eventually I'll be going black with a little purple flake and black Track Rs with a purple lip.
My boyfriend wants me to get better at driving her before I'm allowed to have more speed, so I'll work on the other stuff in the meantime. I have a B16A2 and a damn near brand new Si transmission, but I get the feeling they were there when the kid we bought her from got her. Nothing over the top, but enough for me to get my kicks.
We've been shopping suspension and he really wants me to get ITBs eventually. I guess you could say we're still in the plotting and scheming stage with mine since we're discovering all the little quirky **** people have done, but we're definitely making a list as we go.
My man's also needs some cosmetics, but his motor is built. Now he's working on setting up for nitrous and finding everything he needs to make her pretty, but that will be a process, too. We are discovering it is incredibly difficult to find door panels that aren't cracked. LOL I have beaaaauuuutiful door panels in mine, which he threatens to steal every few hours. Someone in the past crinkled a corner on the hood, so we'll need that replaced. Right now his is Milano red with a black hood, but he wants Si blue. He has lsvtec in his, but he needs sleeves, axles, suspension, and slicks before he's ready to go.
I know there's more...we talk about all the stuff we want to do to them constantly. Sometimes it's hard to keep up.
