2nd gear grinds and gear doesnt "catch", just revs freely??
ok so i just started noticing that every once ina while that when i shift fast into 2nd gears it will grind loudly and instead of engage the gear or whatever it just revs up freely like the feeling when in neautral! its done it to me like 4 times now in a month.
at firs i just thought that i missed second that would explain why it just revved up high like in neautral, but today i can say for sure that i did not miss second. i was in first toook it to about 6200 rpm puch in the clutch all the way, quickly put the shifter into second and instantly heard the scary grind and felt like a scratchy sensation in the shifter, then puch the gas and the rpms just shot up freely.
i already put penzoil syncromesh in the tranny 4 months ago could that be causeing this issue??? would going back to honda MTF fix this? or maybe adjusting the adjusting bolt on the cmc in the cabin? please help me fix this. btw the clutch is new oem i put on about 8 months ago

are any other gears not "catching" what happens does it catch after you hear the noise i'd say off the bat you'r clutch is slipping but if it's not doing it in any of the other gears.
when you shift on 3rd then give gas does rpm just shoot up like in neutral? do u have a weighted shift **** i wonder if this pary of the cause. i dont want it to be my synchro....
(no offence 96hatch)come to think of it mine has been doing it every now and then to but only if it don't put it firmly in to 3rd evey now and then. mostly if im going around a turn as my hands are more focused on the wheel thus not using as much force to put it into 3rd. a synchro going will cause the grind 100% as for the not catching i've just learnt to deal with it changed my trans fluid put in Honda MTF and it started happening right amount and eveything.
like the way you explained it

see i thought that was something like what was happening to me at first but today when it happened it was the worst and i swear my foot was all the way down on the pedal and the shifter was put fully into second. maybe im wrong i dont know. but i just went outside and adjusted the nut on the cmc i made the rod shorter a little basically. im gonna test drive tommorrow morning and see if any change happens. i just hate to think that the synchro is bad this is my daily driver car that i depend on to go to work 6 days a week. if it is a syncro id just buy a new tranny but that is also $$$$
hmm i dont know that this is the same problem as me because i know what you are saying that sometime when you just dont think not paying attention and carelessly throw shifter into gear not all the way or partially itll grind

Im going to have to say gear lock out why im not 100% how it happens(if that) but i'd assume it's the result of a fully shot synchro.. forget about the salve/MC it's not that.
here this carry some revavance doesn't matter if it's a different gear https://honda-tech.com/forums/transmission-drivetrain-127/2nd-gear-lockout-downshift-2668717/

so i had this exact same problem with first gear on my gsr. i just kept using it and eventually it got to the point that sometimes it would catch like it wanted to go, but would throw the trans out of gear so hard it would go into second. SECOND NOT FOURTH! i dont know what was doing it, but i remember it at the time thinking it had something to do with damage that the shift linkage had encountered. the shift linkage was never replaced, but the trans was, and the problem never came back.
sorry not alot of help, but just letting you know your not alone

come to think about it i just installed the ES shifter bushing set the 2 piece set a little while before this started to happen.. maybe that has somethings to do with it but when i think about it how could 2 simple pieces cause this much problems with second
oh so u replace the whole tranny not and use the same linkage??

I have been driving like that for over a year. my mounts are also DONE so I feel that may be one of my probs when I shift because if I'm under load the shifter moves from the tq lol. u can find a trans pretty easy, if u changed your clutch the obviously you can change the trans.

I swapped the trans kept the linkage. My eclipse is doing it now. And I'm 100% sure its the linkage bushings, but its cable, and I'm not sure its the same for solid linkage.

wow, I can't imagine why you would need stiffer mounts just to shift properly.
I have oem mounts and a torn to hell transmission mount. Engine likes to pitch up on the transmission side because of this.
I never have shifting problems. Hell I didn't have my front torque mount for a while and even then I didn't have shifting problems
