Tsup fellas. so I've finally bought my CTR wheels for the IRT setup i bought a while back.

the wheels were "last" peace I needed.

but i go do a test fit and calipers are not clearing where the wheel tapers in a little.

what did I do wrong?

am I supposed to have spacers?

anyone run into this before?

 

when i ran ITR wheels on my Accord I had to use a 5mm spacer on them. they rubbed on a buddies Prelude as well ..

wow. I just went as far as putting 1 inch worth of washer and the caliper is still not clearing. what a waste of money.

 

what's the offset of the rim?

yes i ask because the civic type r might have a different offset compared to the type r.

 

The 98+ ITR was a 16x7 5x114. The CTR wheel is a 15x7 5x114. You're wondering why you have clearance issues? Your wheels are an inch smaller than they should be.

The 15" set of 99 Civic SI wheels clear my ITR front calipers. I assumed most stock 15" honda wheels would. Sucks to hear about CTR wheels

 

It's not just size of wheel man, sounds like you forgot about the wheel "offset"

 

What he has are USDM ITR wheels guys. The JDM ITR came with 16s and the USDM ITR came with 15s. These are from my personal ITR #1047. He has other issues -> calipers that aren't ITR OR CTR for his EM1.

 

Now that you mention it the calipers do look to be shaped different than the ITR calipers I have on my car. Also have some indented fins on them that aren't on mine. So what calipers are those?

 

Doesn't OP have the mugen active gate brakes? Aren't those Nsx calipers?

OP, if you're going to complain about things not fitting, and ask us why they don't fit, you need to tell us everything you have with specifics.

 

I thought NSX calipers had a lot more fins on them.. I can't tell which ones they are

 

thats strange , i have itr calipers with prelude vtec rotos and they clear , can you take a picture of the caliper , because it seems it might be from a rsx/s2k

 

ctr wheels are usdm itr wheels. no difference. the ek9 and dc2 type r line have the same five lug across the world. the 36mm hub on the 98 specs are the only varience and that has no effect on wheel fitment. somethings up with your brakes for sure. if it was pieced together from chasis other than the ek9 and dc2 id start looking there. ill take the wheels thought if you dont want them.

 

Except the 96-97 ITR, which had 15x7 4x114, and was still a DC2. While we're on the topic of what brakes are the same, if they are, then OP doesn't have OEM ITR calipers.

Thnaks for the interest fellas. so I found out that I have RSX calipers PN:16CL16VN (funny because I bout a type R caliper rebuild kit and it worked just fine)

In that case I'm wondering what knuckles I have because I'd like to just buy some Type R calipers and get it over with.

can some one help me out with this. one knuckle has these two stamps (SR-R-14N & 7HN)


I dint think NSX calipers would just bolt onto type R knuckles... I sure hope that's the case.

I just hope the guy that sold me the 5 lug setup didn't sell me something other that he claim it was, so far it looks that way.

they are active gates from what I've looked up. I just hope Type R calipers will clear them.

 

Even if you were to get it to fit. I would not feel comfortable with the Calipers that close to the inside rim. The heat would be INSANE.

Side note - Im freaking jealous of your 5 lug and i know how Unreal the Braking is on a ITR. Years ago my buddy bought a 2001 ITR and i loved the engine but i was more impressed with the Suspension and Braking.

type r calipers are the same as some accords. I don't remember which.

nsx calipers are indeed a bolt on for a 5 lug setup.

 

awesome. I just checked the rears and those seem to by Type Rs (9CLP14S)

So I'd be safe buying Type R caliper and they'd bolt right on?

This! Usdm ITR, jdm CTR wheels are the same thing. By the looks of them you have Euro Accord R calipers. Those definitely are not ITR calipers. Sell the CTR wheels and get 16" jdm ITR wheels, they'll clear no problem

 

Dont forget to change Proportioning valve from a ITR.

Alot of people dont even realize or know to switch the valve when they do the REAR DISC conversion ( from drum to disc )

It changes how much braking goes to the rear and vice versa.
