Default plasti-dip WHAT A MESS

I got a set of Rota HM3's....BUT unfortunately they have been plasti dipped almost 3 times with 3 different covers and with spray paint...i have used half gallon of paint stripper "kleen strip aircraft remover".. Cant seem to get this garbage off the wheels...Any suggestions? preferably from someone who has experience with removing plasti DIP?

I've removed plasti dip with goo gone. I have the spray bottle. Let it sit for a while then I used a microfiber cloth to wipe off. I dont know if it will work since you said you tried aircraft stripper. But give it a try. Try using goo gone on the plasti dip first then Use the aircraft stripper on the spray paint. Gl

Yes. You are supposed to peel it off, thus the craze for it. I guess you tried that? I hate PD btw

it doesn't peel off in all areas...

I have a full set of rota HM3's and they are such nice wheels with this junk stuck all over them!

I just went and had the tires taken off the wheels so i can move em around a bit easier and maybe have a better time removing this crap.

Why would you use chemical paint stripper on a rubberized plastic coating?

Use the correct tools.

ok they are rota hm3's

They are originally black wheels with a polished lip, it goes as followed... red plasti dipm clear PD, white PD, then followed by yellow PD, then spray painted black.

I used paint remover to get the black off so i can access the 25 layers of PD.

I got one wheel down to Bare metal using a commercial grade Hot water pressure washer. After using the pressure washer on it and all the paint remover it messed the original black off the rota, so i took it down to bare metal. I get to use the guys hot washer on thursday again so i am going to have the other 2 tires taken off the other two wheels and get started on them.

I will try to use some wire wheels i just dont want to damage the wheels

the problem seems like the spraypaint OVER the PD. i'm sure there was some sort of chemical reaction that occurred and probably hardened the PD.

have you tried straight heat yet?

well i have completely Stripped one wheel all the way down to bare metal. Like i said above the wheels were originally black with polished lip and unfortunately through all the heat from the diesel powered hot water pressure washer and all the paint stripper i lost all the black so the one wheel is completely stripped of all paint and PD.

I am lucky i found one of my customers have this huge pressure washer the size of my civic hatch which is what i used a few days ago to get this all started. but i am unable to use it right now cause he is out of town, but monday i will go back to his place and take the other 3 and get as much as i can off. I have over 3 1/2 hours involved in 1 wheel and luckily it is done. While i am waiting til monday i have been brushing on thick layers of stripped on the wheels and it seems to make it lift off a bit which is helping get them prepped for using the pressure washer on them, so that way i am not using his PW machine for 6 hours lol.

off topic, i got a new digi camera that i am waiting on a charger for it so once it comes in i will post pics of what i am working with. will update with pics asap

Aircraft remover would have that **** gone in a jiffy. Im not a fan of Plasti-dip but I think it loses its removal quality after that many layers, and sounds like some spray paint too. But yeah that stuff sucks, wheels probably really suck because of all the nooks and crannies.

why not repaint the black first? use the self etching primer first to make sure the paint sticks solid

Polish them or have them polished.
