Will worn bushes up front cause 1st to 2nd lock out
I'm running 23" M&H slicks on a pretty fresh rebuilt gear box (new parts) with new Innovative mount kit launching at 6k rpm
1st to 2nd will engage but doesn't go in quickly and it's hard to change under full load, on road tyres no problem and all other gear changes are like butter smooth on slicks.
When changing the slicks for road tyres we noticed there was about 1 inch of movement when tightening up the wheel nuts on both sides, would this contribute towards the above problem?
Obviously all the bushes will be replaced but while the car is on the ramps would like to know if there is anything else I should address?
91 CRX
B18 Turbo
JDM Y1 (Cable) Box rebuilt 1000 miles ago with new parts if they where out of factory spec.
Quaife Diff
M Factory 1-5 carbon syncro kit
Torco RTF fluid
Innovative Mounts 75A Black (New)
CC stage 5 sprung with CC flywheel (kit) 1000 miles including bed in.

if u are saying your control arms are moving 1 inch, then yes, this could be causing your diff to bind a bit, creating some additional pressure to shift gears. both walk forward some under acceleration, and possibly pull the diff ever so slightly forward too, forcing it into the counter shaft a little bit more, then onto the input shaft... yes in theory i could see it maybe happening.... in theory.

Are you running the slicks on stock rims? If so do you have a pic? I'm looking into putting 23" slicks on my gsr I have laying around

Pics of car on 23" slicks (these are on stock Superlegs 15x7j
The one side on was with a spare hood (black) which didn't sit right.

Just to report back for long term searching,
Changed the bushes up front for stronger items and the problem seems to gone for now.
Was at the track last Saturday and broke into the 11's which was unexpected considering I had a full tank of gas in my full weight CRX with cage (2600 lbs)
Looks like 93h2beg theory may have been correct so good call that man.

Sound like the clutch travel need to be adjusted on the cable. Its either not fully disengaging OR its going to far and re-engaging the clutch slightly.
That's what I thought, remember, it's a cable so adjustment is finite.
After changing the bushes and not touching the clutch adjustment the problem seems to have gone, 1st to 2nd is nice and easy as I would have hope after the amount of new parts going into the box.
Managed 6 runs Sat and not one hint of lock out didn't have to try hard to get gears so "I hope" it was the bushes causing the problem as they were pretty shot.
Thanks for the input Turbo-LS and for me I will not be convinced till I run at least 20 or so runs trouble free.
